Ο Ralph ήταν μια ιδιαίτερη προσωπικότητα για πολλούς λόγους πέρα από την ιδιοφυϊα στο σχέδιο. Εκτός από τις ταινίες, τα σχέδια του ενέπνευσαν τουλάχιστον δυο γενεές νεότερων ζωγράφων που έμαθαν πως οι ταιίες πρώτα σχεδιάζονται και μετά γυρίζονται.

Όπως κι εγώ είχαν εντυπωσιαστεί από το ταλέντο και τη φαντασία του που πάντα έφερνε τις ιδέες στο τέλειο σημείο.

Η επιρροή του στον σχεδιασμό θα είναι αισθητή για αιώνες, καθώς όταν αρχίσουμε να φτιάχνουμε διαστημόπλοια και πόλεις σε άλλους πλανήτες, κάποιος σίγουρα θα πει: “αυτό μοιάζει με ένα από τα σχέδια του Ralph McQuarrie…” -Τζώρτζ Λούκας
